Petition of Exceptions to Program Curriculum Requirements

A Petition of Exceptions to Program Curriculum Requirements is a formal request submitted by a student to modify the established program requirements, including clinical, internships, classroom, or other curricular components. The student should initiate the process by contacting their advisor. The petition initiates a curriculum subcommittee review to determine if the proposed request meets program outcomes/requirements.

  1. All petitions must be submitted through a formal request by the student using the Petition of Exceptions to Program Curriculum Requirements form. The student will work with their faculty advisor or the Assistant Registrar to complete the form. The faculty advisor or Assistant Registrar will forward the petition to the respective curriculum committee for review.
  2. The committee will review the petition and make a decision.
  3. The Committee Chair will prepare and sign a letter within five business days of the meeting to inform the student of the committee’s decision and rationale. The Committee Chair will send the letter to the Registrar’s office, and the Registrar will provide a copy of the letter to the Dean, Advisor, and Student.
